On January 21, 2015, East Tex Regional CERT conducted a training for local Boy Scouts on the importance of emergency preparedness as well as on response topics. To qualify for Merit Badges, the scouts participated in classroom training on general information to help them and their families be more prepared in case of disaster. Following the classroom training conducted by Rockwall County Emergency Management, the scouts joined ETRC outside for training in how to put together a "go bag", and different types of searches.
The scouts then conducted a line search, looking for evidence in a mock crime scene. After conducting the search, the scouts' next task was to lift an object off of a trapped victim using a technique called cribbing. The scouts were successful at completing all tasks to advance their way toward finishing their merit badge. ETRC was grateful for the opportunity to host the scouts for the second year now to help the teens grow.
