CERT is a program through FEMA that trains and organizes volunteers in the community to assist fire and police during times of need. We assist in disaster response, missing person searches, and pubic event support. Currently, we support Rockwall, Hunt, Collin, Kaufman, and Van Zandt Counties as well as the Town of Sunnyvale.
Members are trained on a wide range of skills including first aid, light search and rescue, preparedness, fire suppression and other skills. More advanced training is offered to team members to further expand our capabilities to support the community.
Team members are only expected to attend 3 events/trainings/drills per year, with one of them being a public event to stay on the active callout list. We have events going on all year, and assisting a public event counts as 2. Keeping your skills up is essential.
This is the initial 2 day training for all new CERT members. You must sign up for BOTH days.
